Alpitour World announces a major strategic reorganisation with the aim of strengthening its position internationally.
With this in mind, the Board of Directors of Jumbo Tours, the incoming division of Alpitour World, entrusts the management of Jumbo Tours to Emilio Rivas, appointed General Manager, with the aim of guaranteeing its continuity and growth, while Ginés Martínez leaves the helm of the Spanish Group to concentrate on projects of international relevance as Vice President for Global Alliances and International Affairs of Alpitour World.
In this regard, Ginés Martínez said: ‘In order to strengthen the role and positioning of Alpitour World internationally, it is essential to always seek new synergies and opportunities for collaboration with our partners and public institutions in the countries where we operate. This position requires increasing energy and responsibility in order to achieve increasingly challenging goals. I am delighted with the new appointment of Emilio Rivas, certain that he will continue to pursue the growth project of Jumbo Tours with commitment and professionalism“.
Emilio Rivas has extensive experience in the tourism industry. After graduating from ESIC Business School in Marketing & Business Administration, he worked for nine years at Alpitour World, holding various management positions until becoming Deputy General Manager of Jumbo Tours. Subsequently, he was CEO of the WHOLESALE, Bed Bank and Incoming divisions of the Globalia Group where, following the merger between Globalia and the Barcelo Group and the subsequent creation of Avoris, he took on the position of General Manager for Wholesale, Bed Bank, Incoming and Transportation. From May 2023, Emilio joined Jumbo Tours as Chief Strategy and Business Development.
In this context, Carlos Fernandez was appointed as the new Corporate Director of Jumbo Tours with responsibilities in the areas of finance, human resources and IT.
Carlos Fernandez, after earning a degree in Business Administration from Cardiff University and attending advanced programmes in Management and Venture Capital at IE Business School Executive Education and in Management Accounting at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, began his career in the finance division of Marriott International and, over the next 11 years, deepened his experience first at Globalia Group’s Travel Group and then as COO of Avoris’ Travel Group Wholesale division, further consolidating his expertise in finance and operations in the travel brokerage industry. As of May 2023, he joined the Jumbo Tours team as Chief Corporate Officer.
Both newly appointed, Emilio Rivas and Carlos Fernandez, will join the Board of Directors of JTG, reporting directly to Gabriele Burgio, President and CEO of Alpitour World.
