Jumbo Tours hosted a webinar for travel agents in Mexico where Gabriel Fiol, director of business development in the Americas, presented Jumbo Tours attractive portfolio of offers and promotions from Grupo Posadas.
Gabriel Fiol, director of business development in the Americas for Jumbo Tours, led a webinar for the Mexican tourism sector, in which he presented Jumbo’s offering, actions against the Covid-19 pandemic and the promotions which are carried out in cooperation with Grupo Posadas.
Solid Trajectory in Tourism
Jumbo Tours has more than 40 years of experience and is part of Alpitour, one of the biggest tourism corporations in Europe and a precursor in the Italian tourism sector.
The company owns 30 offices with 3 commercial delegations, a portfolio of 120,000 hotels and more than 400 million daily searches. Travel agents can get in contact with the Mexico commercial manager, Salvador Puig, if they are interested in working with the company.
“Jumbobed’s online reservation system contains all the services for travel agencies to contract services including: hotels, transfers, group management and a great variety of tourist services.” Stated Puig, who also claimed that starting the 1st of May of this year they would have a new 24/7 call centre.
Actions in response to the contingency
Fiol explained that JTG are monitoring the current situation and created a dedicated page for the latest official decrees provided by different governments on travel restrictions, states of alarm, hotel closings, and other additional services.
Likewise, the product in direct contracting has increased, particularly in the Mexican domestic market. An increase in accommodation, an improvement in cancellation policies offering greater flexibility, special rates for single parent families and the application and extension of discounts for early reservations, among other actions to support this sector.
Fiol also ensured that the company follows all the security and hygiene protocols of all tourist ecosystem members.
“We have worked towards maintaining and enhancing our product content so that all is ready when activity restarts.”, he added.
Promotions with Grupo Posadas
Paulina Loeza, associate director of international sales for Grupo Posadas, participated in this webinar. She announced that 163 properties are already open and their reopening calendar will conclude on the 1st of August.
The director explained that the hotel chain launched the program “Travel with confidence” which counts with the support of the global brand 3M and is endorsed by the EPA in the United States.
Among the actions taken the most important include: digital check-in, installing acrylic protections at front desks and distributing personal protection kits for customers. As well as security distances, maximum capacity in pools, and increased disinfection in beaches and pools.
Loeza also mentioned that discounts of up to 50% are being offered in Jumbo Tours and resort credit is added to reservations in adult-only hotels. In family hotels up to 2 children can stay free. Additionally, if six or more nights are booked, the sixth night is free.
“We have more than 180 hotels in Mexico with the security of our “Travel with confidence” program including high hygiene and sanitation levels endorsed by institutions which carry out the new normality protocols”, she highlighted.
These promotions apply to getaways up until December 2020 and reservations up until 15th July 2020.
Receptive Services in Cancún and Riviera Maya
Monia Gagliano is in charge of showcasing Jumbo Tours’s DMCs which is a division of the group focused on the development of domestic market product in the context of the sanitary crisis in the 2020-2021.
In this context, we can find the circuits “Colonial getaway”, “Yucatan and Campeche”, “Magic cenotes and lagoon”, “History and nature”, and “Magic Chiapas”.
The directive highlighted the differential values of these programs, which include a certified tour guide during the whole circuit, 4-star hotels, bed and breakfast, lunches, exclusive boat or maritime transport and activities throughout the day.
Travel Agents, allies in the recovery of tourism
Fiol considered that travel agencies will play a crucial part in the reactivation of the tourism industry and highlighted their role and compromise during the crisis, supporting their clients to repatriate them or postpone and cancel services.
“In this step towards the new normality, what we are doing in support of agencies, in addition to this presentation, is to enhance our webpage so that the purchasing experience is more comfortable for agencies, as well as enhancing our portfolio for agencies to sell with a guarantee of solid and reliable product, always adapting to different dates and opening changes”, he concluded.
