The major tour operator Dimensiones Club will take advantage of the Alpitour-owned group’s distribution capacity.
Dimensiones Club, a wholesaler specialising in large-scale travel, has agreed to work towards a possible commercial alliance with Jumbo Tours, which belongs to the Italian company Alpitour. This commercial alliance will allow Dimensiones Club to take advantage of the group’s operational and technological structure as well as its great distribution and international expansion capacity. This collaboration, if successful, could “in the future” lead to the integration of the tour operator into the structure of Jumbo Tours, according to what HOSTELTUR has been told.
In the coming months, the teams from both companies will work together to define the main project lines, “with the aim to provide Dimensiones Club with greater capillarity in its Spanish market distribution”. At the same time, they will work on expanding the wholesaler’s offering in other markets where Jumbo Tours has strong commercial partner links. Later, they can analyse options to increase product range and destination offering, with the incorporation of innovative and exclusive proposals, relying on two companies from Alpitour; hotel chain VOI Hotels and airline Neos Air.
This first collaboration will also include the study of all operational and technological synergies available, to maximise the tour operator’s profitability by relying on Jumbo Tour’s structure.
In this project, both companies emphasize that they seek to maintain “the differential travel offering value that has distinguished Dimensiones Club”, the tour operator driven by Julio González specialising in long-distance luxury travel.
Gonzalez and his team will continue to be involved with the wholesaler to ensure its growth once the travel industry recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.
Looking for synergies
In statements to the media, the CEO of Jumbo Tours, Ginés Martínez, explained that they are going to start working with Dimensiones Club on a Business Plan in which “we are going to look for all the synergies with our hotel company VOI Hotels and the airline Neos as well as offering our corporate structure so that they can improve results” and “in the future we will analyse their possible integration into the group”.
On this point, Martínez admits that the acquisition of the tour operator by Jumbo Tours “is an option, if the project and Business Plan we are planning are confirmed”.
Regarding this interest in Dimensiones Club, Ginés Martínez explains that “since before the pandemic we were very attentive to market, looking for options that create value for content and after the pandemic, we went back and talked to the companies that we believed had a good fit”.
Dimensiones Club is a tour operator specialising in luxury travel in long-haul destinations in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Americas. Founded in 2015 by Julio González, former director of TUI Spain’s wholesaler Ambassador Tours, who has worked closely with the travel agency channel over the last six years.
